The Bears third full week of school was super despite a few rainy days. Our theme was “Friends” and we learned what a friend is and how to be good one. We sang and read a lot of books revolving around this idea!
We made a group paper quilt, a class hand print collage, and put together little boat “Friendships”.
Next up: Farm Animals
Beach Day was a huge success! The kids had so much fun with all the activities… everything from a sprinkler and water balloons to arts and crafts and hand squeezed lemonade. Yet, the highlight of the morning was when the ice cream truck came by! Can everyday be beach day?
Hello and a happy summer to all! June brought the Birds to the “Moving On Ceremony.” Many thanks to all who contributed to its success, especially the children: they performed beautifully. Congratulations to all!
We are finishing up our doodle books of alphabet letters which we shall give you the last week of school. Our subjects in June were transportation, the family, and insects. Hot air balloons and family portraits were some of our art projects, along with our special Father’s Day surprise!
In July, we will celebrate Independence Day, camping, and the beach. Art projects will include alphabet/name games, things to take when camping, and fun at the beach. August will focus on gardens, growing seeds, and eating healthy foods, and we will have fun at our annual Beach Day, Friday, August 5th! Of course as our year comes to a close, we will talk about kindergarten, riding school busses, and making new friends.
It’s hard to believe the school year is already winding down for the Bears. Soon they’ll be flying off to the Birds’ room. We couldn’t be more proud of the way in which each and every one of your kiddos has grown socially, emotionally, and cognitively. It really has been a super year! We’re going to miss them dearly.
Although we still enjoy outside play throughout the summer, we do occasionally adjust our scheduled time to be out on the playground before the sun beats down too harshly. Heading outside earlier in the morning also allows us to expand the variety of art activities we engage with inside. We started June by exploring Pets, and Fruits and Vegetables. July is bringing in exciting topics like Flags/Fireworks, Beach, and Camping. We plan to spend August exploring concepts such as Fish, Farm Animals, and will wrap up the year with a week centering around Ice Cream (yes, we will be sampling!).
Here’s to a fun and happy summer!
