If you speak with any of our preschool parents, they will all share their love and adoration for our staff, several of whom have served at our school for more than 20 years. PCC is proud to offer health insurance benefits to our fabulous teaching and administrative staff. We know this sets us apart from other half-day preschool programs in the area and keeps our teachers healthy and happy and keeps our staff turnover rate extremely low.
Our devoted 2-year-old teachers work with children who typically haven’t spent much time away from mom and dad, and create for them a special, fun place to come and play each day. Two co-teachers team-teach 10 children in this classroom (10:2 ratio). Children can attend 2, 3 or 5 days per week.
Our 3-year-old teachers creatively work to help our three-year-olds become independent preschoolers, navigating how to share, work together and play cooperatively. Two co-teachers team-teach 13 children in this classroom (13:2 ratio). Children can attend 2, 3 or 5 days per week.
And our fearless four-year-old teachers help prepare our children for kindergarten through art, reading, music and more. Two teachers team-teach 15 children in the 4’s classroom (15:2 ratio). Children can attend 2, 3 or 5 days per week.
Each classroom also benefits from weekly music/movement classes from our gifted music teacher and the four-year olds receive weekly lessons in Spanish language from a special instructor. PCC also utilizes early education work-study students affiliated with UNC.
Staff is lead by Laura Gelblum, our preschool director, who has served our school for over 30 years. Laura’s knowledge of the development of 2, 3, and 4 year old children could easily fill a book. We’ve all learned a thing or two about our own children from her. Her years of dedication to our school make her a trusted leader that we count on to run an excellent program for our children.
