Hello and a happy summer to all! June brought the Birds to the “Moving On Ceremony.” Many thanks to all who contributed to its success, especially the children: they performed beautifully. Congratulations to all!
We are finishing up our doodle books of alphabet letters which we shall give you the last week of school. Our subjects in June were transportation, the family, and insects. Hot air balloons and family portraits were some of our art projects, along with our special Father’s Day surprise!
In July, we will celebrate Independence Day, camping, and the beach. Art projects will include alphabet/name games, things to take when camping, and fun at the beach. August will focus on gardens, growing seeds, and eating healthy foods, and we will have fun at our annual Beach Day, Friday, August 5th! Of course as our year comes to a close, we will talk about kindergarten, riding school busses, and making new friends.
It’s hard to believe the school year is already winding down for the Bears. Soon they’ll be flying off to the Birds’ room. We couldn’t be more proud of the way in which each and every one of your kiddos has grown socially, emotionally, and cognitively. It really has been a super year! We’re going to miss them dearly.
Although we still enjoy outside play throughout the summer, we do occasionally adjust our scheduled time to be out on the playground before the sun beats down too harshly. Heading outside earlier in the morning also allows us to expand the variety of art activities we engage with inside. We started June by exploring Pets, and Fruits and Vegetables. July is bringing in exciting topics like Flags/Fireworks, Beach, and Camping. We plan to spend August exploring concepts such as Fish, Farm Animals, and will wrap up the year with a week centering around Ice Cream (yes, we will be sampling!).
Here’s to a fun and happy summer!
Wow! Hard to believe that summer is already here. The Bunnies have grown so much. We now do water play and they love it. We will continue to have water play on a daily basis: please make sure your child has a change of clothes in their cubby.
The Bunnies have been doing fun arts and crafts. They made American flags and firework pictures, handprint fish, paper plate watermelons and sunflowers. In the process, we tasted sunflower seeds and ate watermelon on a stick, which the Bunnies found really funny.
For the next couple of months the Bunnies will be doing fun summer activities. They will be making lemonade, ice cream in a bag, and cookies. We will also be talking about vacation, the beach, sports, and “colors in my world.” The Bunnies will be taking a ride around campus on the city bus from time to time; we will let parents know in advance. The Bunnies do not take field trips but at the end of the school year in the past, everyone enjoyed taking a walk to Sutton’s and order lemonade and french fries to eat at the old store counter.
PCC Annual Beach Day will be coming up in August. This is sooooo much fun, filled with arts and crafts, beach music, dancing, healthy snacks, and water play all day.
